Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry: Review and Swatches

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry

Price: $7.99 (Canadian)
This product retails at most drugstores in North America or can be purchased online through

Revlon's Description regarding the formula:
Infused with silk and vitamins for smooth, conditioning colour. In a dazzling array of fabulous, fashionable shades.

The packaging is the classic Revlon lipstick packaging. For a drugstore lipstick, I personally think it looks very nice and could almost be mistaken for a high end product! It feels like good quality and the lid stays on, so there's no need to worry about it coming off when it's in your purse!

The Formula is the super lustrous, which is my favourite formula that revlon produces. It is very creamy, smooth and has very good lasting power! This is labeled as a "creme" formula and definitely lives up to it's label!

Here's what black cherry looks like after one swatch. I didn't apply much pressure and as you can see it is already very pigmented. Don't be afraid of how the colour looks in the tube! Once it's applied you can see the true purple/burgundy colour.

Here's how the lipstick looks after applying a second layer. I find all of the Revlon super lustrous lipsticks are very pigmented and this one is no exception!

This is how the lipstick looks on! ( I instagramed this picture, if you haven't seen my instagram you should totally check it out!!) Although my application wasn't perfect, you can see how beautiful the colour is.

IN CONCLUSION….
Is it pigmented?
- YES! It has beautiful pigmentation and is very opaque.

How does it wear?
- Very nicely! I found it lasts quite well but you will most likely need to reapply throughout the day.

How's the texture?
- It is very smooth, creamy and moisturizing! It feels very light on the lips.

Would you recommend this product?
-YES! Right now vampy, dark lipsticks are very trendy and I think this is a perfect product to test out if you like it! For the price, it can't be beat. Great quality, great price, overall this is a winning product that could fit nicely in anyone's makeup collection!

*p.s this is a TOTAL dupe for MAC rebel, so this is a great alternative if you don't want to shell out a lot of $$$$ :) *

Lorac Pro Palette Review and Swatches

Price: 55$ (canadian)
This was the price i purchased this product at from Sephora. Unfortunately Sephora no longer carries Lorac, but you can still purchase it from
Ulta or the Lorac website.

Website Description:

LORAC PRO PALETTE

Go PRO with the LORAC PRO Palette! Created by celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw, this PRO artistry palette is packed with 8 Shimmer and 8 Matte Eye Shadows in all the shades you need to create the hottest looks straight from the Red Carpet. LORAC’S velvety-smooth shadows are infused with soothing botanicals and are ultra-pigmented to perform wet or dry so you can shade, shadow, line and define your eyes, just like a PRO.
PRO Palette Contains 16 Eye Shadows and a Mini Behind The Scenes Eye Primer for stay-true color that lasts, a PRO must-have!
**please excuse how messy my palette is, it is quite well loved by me** :)

The Lorac Pro palette is one of the most talked about palette's for 2013. But is the hype really worth it?… YES! I've had this product since August and have found myself reaching for it over most of my other palettes. What I really love about this is how pigmented and creamy all of the eyeshadows are. It also came with a mini eyeshadow primer which was a nice addition to have, although the palette is definitely the stand out of the two products.
The palette consists of 16 eyeshadows, 8 matte and 8 shimmery. I love how diverse this palette is, you can truly create unlimited looks with the colours.
Here is the swatches of the top, matte row.
From left to right the colour names are; white, cream, taupe, light pink, mauve, sable, espresso and black.
White: this shade is a very cool-toned white. I mostly use it for highlighting my brow bone, but is also great for brighting up eye looks. Although most of the shades are very smooth, I did find this one to be a little bit powdery. I still think the colour pay off is great, and overall is a great matte highlight shade.

Cream: I found out of all 16 shades in the palette, this is the least pigmented and most powdery. BUT it still is great for a natural highlight or all over the lid shade. I find it is best applied with fingers instead of brushes as you get the most colour payoff and least amount of fallout!

Taupe: I LOVE THIS SHADE. This is honestly the perfect crease, transition colour! I find it's my go to for most eye shadows looks. It adds great definition and can be natural if blended or can be layered to be very dramatic. It has good colour payoff, blends easily and well pigmented.

Light Pink: For me, I tend to stray away from pink eyeshadows in general as I find they just make me look tired most of the time! But, this shade is pigmented pretty well, smooth and also easily to blend. I like to use this shade if I'm creating a purple smokey eye, just to bring some light into the inner corners of my eyes. Overall, if you like pink shadows I'm sure you'd love this shade!

Mauve: This is a beautiful, cool toned, muted purple colour. It has good pigmentation, but compared to some other shades is a little bit powdery! It's very easy to blend and is also a very nice crease, transition colour.

Sable: this is a warm-toned matte brown and is also one of my favourite colours from the palette! It's very smooth and SUPER blend able!

Espresso: is a very deep, warm toned brown. This is very smooth and pigmented shade that is also very blend able. I love this for creating dark, smokey eyes.

Black: is a very true, matte black. This is perfect for creating a smudged eyeliner or even guess what.. a smokey eye! wow I've talked about smokey eyes a lot in this review.. Oh well! It's true! Anyways back to this black shade, it is pigmented well but to get the most opaque colour I would recommend gradually adding colour to the look and build it up to the intensity you'd like.

Now on to the shimmery shades!
From left to right: nude, champagne, gold, light bronze, pewter, garnet, deep purple, slate.
Nude: is a warm toned, pinkish/champagne colour. The true colour wouldn't show up in the photo, but it is fantastic for highlighting! If i'm looking for a shimmery brow bone colour or inner corner highlight this is one of my go-to's! It also looks beautiful swept over the lid for a simple, natural look.

Champagne: this shade is quite similar to nude. They both have pink undertones and there isn't much of a difference really. On the lorac website, this shade is listed as a "sparkle" not a shimmer like the rest of the colours. I definitely agree with the title sparkle as there is more of a noticeable glitter compared to the other shades, but don't worry it's not large glitter or anything! It still is a stunning eye shadow colour.

Gold: Here is hands down the jack-pot eyeshadow of this palette.. I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS GOLD COLOUR! It is honestly one of the most pigmented, smooth and most of all buttery eyeshadow's I have ever tried. I could go on forever about how much I love this warm-toned gold.

Light Bronze: is one of the most used colours in this palette for me. This is a great day colour that can easily be transitioned into night wear. It is well pigmented, but it is a bit more powdery than some of the other shadows.

Pewter: This is a very interesting, unique colour. It seems to be a very cool-toned shadow, but has almost a gold undertone. It has great pigmentation, smooth and buttery.

Garnet: Here's my runner-up shade to Gold, the two together creates an absolutely stunning warm eye look. This shadow has incredible pigmentation, is very smooth and SO buttery. You need to feel the eyeshadows to truly know what I mean, it just feels so nice!.. (Is that weird to be saying an eyeshadow feels nice..?) This is a warm toned muted copper with red and brown undertones.

Deep Purple: is a blackened purple colour with purple micro-shimmer throughout it. This is a very unique shade and is very easy to incorporate into eye looks. It has great pigmentation and is very smooth and blend able.

Slate: this is a cool toned, deep grey with pale blue, almost teal micro-shimmer throughout it. I feel like i've never seen an eyeshadow this colour, making this one of the many unique colours in this palette. This is also a very buttery, smooth and blend able shade.

Final Thoughts..

I LOVE THIS PALETTE! I feel like it is a great price for the quality and uniqueness of the colours. This is a very versatile palette that is lightweight, so it's great for travelling and storage. Although a few of the colours are a little bit powdery, they are all still pigmented shadows that can be used to create stunning eye shadow looks.

Would I Recommend?
YES! I personally think this palette would be great for everyone, from beginners to professionals I think it can find a home in anyone's makeup collection!
